Den­tal Cone Beam CT

This is a special type of X-ray ma­chine used in sit­u­a­tions where reg­u­lar den­tal X-rays aren’t suf­fi­ciently de­tailed. Den­tal cone beam com­puted to­mog­ra­phy isn’t used rou­tinely be­cause the ra­di­a­tion ex­po­sure from this scan­ner is sig­nif­i­cantly more than with nor­mal den­tal X-rays. This type of CT scan­ner uses a special type of tech­nol­ogy to gen­er­ate 3D im­ages of the teeth, gums, nerve paths and bone which al­lows for more pre­cise treat­ment.
