- BY ELLEN ROSE O’RIORDAN

Seized tobacco REVENUE officers have seized cash and tobacco at two Irish ports this week.

Cash bundles containing €4,500 and £6,170 were recovered during routine car checks at Rosslare Europort on Monday.

The vehicles bound for Cherbourg, France, were spot-checked by guards and a sniffer dog.

A Revenue spokesman said: “Officers suspected the cash to be the proceeds of, or intended for use in, crime.”

Wexford District Court granted a three-month cash detention order.

Also on Monday tobacco was seized at Dublin Airport. It led to a followup search of an address at Drogheda, Co Louth, where 15kgs of unstamped of tobacco was found.
