Irish Daily Mirror - - IRISH DAILY MIRROR - BY MIRROR REPORTER

Monica and Gabriella THE Cheeky Girls have told of their secret battles with depression and anorexia at the height of their success.

Monica and Gabriella, 35, shot to fame on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.

But away from the singing and dancing to their catchy hits, life was often miserable.

Speaking on Loose Women, Monica said: “We were told what to do all of the time so we ended up working 24 hours a day.

“Slowly we became depressed.”

Gabriella added: “We couldn’t control our lives so we controlled what we ate instead.

“We would wear baggy clothes to make people believe we were eating.”
