Hoz that fair?

HOZIER fans were furious yesterday after tickets for his Irish gigs sold out in minutes – and were being flogged by touts for hundreds of euro afterwards.

The 28-year-old is set to play five dates in December as part of his European tour.

Tickets went on sale to the general public at 9am yesterday, following a Spotify presale earlier this week.

While the going rate for his Dublin date was €34.50, one ticket for the circle seating section in the Olympia on December 15 was up for €660 on Viagogo yesterday.

Fans took to social media to vent their frustration.

Louise Kennedy tweeted Hozier and said: “Actual fans trying to get tickets to your show in the Olympia – sold out in record time and yet there are tickets available on Viagogo for €270 each – how is this fair?!”

Ema Staples added: “When will we finally crack down on ticket touts in this country?

“In London last year they were going to extreme lengths to stop ticket touts and we need to start doing that here.”

But it wasn’t all bad news for fans of the Take Me To Church star – real name Andrew Hozier Byrne – as it was announced yesterday the singer, from Bray, Co Wicklow will headline RTE 2fm’s Xmas Ball in aid of ISPCC on December 14.

Tickets for that event are €39.50 and go on sale on Wednesday at 9am.

Meanwhile, fans of Rod Stewart and Take That were overjoyed yesterday by the news they would both be returning to Ireland next year.

Take That will play Dublin‘s 3Arena on April 29 to mark their milestone 30th anniversary.

Tickets go on sale next Friday from usual outlets.

Rod will play the Pairc Ui Caoimh on May 25 and tickets go on sale on Thursday at 9am.
