€180k tech up­grade for dog rac­ing

Joe Lewins GREY­HOUND rac­ing bosses are spend­ing €180,000 on a vi­tal com­puter net­work, it was an­nounced yes­ter­day.

The money will up­grade the Ir­ish Grey­hound Board’s Race Man­age­ment Sys­tem, which op­er­ates across Ire­land and pays 7,313 own­ers and 543 train­ers.

Made To En­gage – based in Belfast, Dublin and Lon­don – has won the ten­der for the first phase of the work.

IGB di­rec­tor Joe Lewins said: “The RMS sys­tem is an in­te­gral part of the IGB and a mod­ern grey­hound in­dus­try.

“It will fur­ther en­hance op­er­a­tional ef­fec­tive­ness and con­tinue to im­prove cus­tomer ex­pe­ri­ence.”
