Harold dies 35 yrs after new heart op

Harold Kinsley A MAN thought to be the world’s oldest heart transplant survivor has died more than 35 years after his life-saving surgery.

Harold Kinsley, 73, got his new heart in 1983 from a 22-year-old Londoner killed in a car crash.

The life expectancy of heart transplant patients was then just five years.

Harold, of Winchester, Hants, ran the London Marathon at least twice in to raise money for Papworth Hospital, where he had the op, and the British Heart Foundation.

He spoke about how the operation changed his outlook, saying: “When I first got it done I didn’t take anything for granted.”

Harold died on October 4 and leaves two sons and four grandchild­ren. His funeral was on Monday.
