Care is needed with fireworks
IT was disturbing to hear Dr Chris Luke describe his horror at treating a patient who had his face blown off by a firework.
His account has emphasised the dangers of the explosive devices as the injured young man was a sensible scoutmaster.
It was dreadful to hear how the Cork-based expert has been haunted for decades by the shocking incident.
He also told how a 14-year-old girl suffered serious damage to her fingers and hands caused by bangers.
We need to be aware of the dangers posed by fireworks and bonfires.
