VICTORY IF JACK CAN BE NIMBLE

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

THE frustrating, 119-rated Jack Dillinger is a hopeful nap choice in the Cashel Maiden Hurdle on today’s six-race jumps card in Clonmel.

Formerly trained by Eddie Harty, this Westerner gelding was having his first run for Joseph O’brien (above) when outpointed by Vocarium at Gowran Park recently.

He’s not entirely straight-forward and has had plenty of chances. But, with a fitness edge over chief rival Rakhine State, he’s expected to give J J Slevin his first success since mid-july, with the jockey only returning to action last week after an injury sustained at the Galway Festival.

Earlier, the consistent but frustrating Ozzie’s Way, trained and ridden by Denis Hogan, might outstay Gordon Elliott’s Markhan in the Kilsheelan Maiden Hurdle while Kilbarry Way, fourth to Western Victory in Galway at the weekend, looks another likely winner for Rachael Blackmore in the opening mares maiden.

Ruby Walsh travels for just one ride and might be rewarded as Eight And Bob – owned by the Act d Wagg Syndicate, which includes his wife – might be capable of defying a mandatory 6lb penalty for his belated breakthrough success at Wexford on Sunday.

runaway winner of the recent Herbert Power Stakes, will lead Aidan O’brien’s bid for a first Melbourne Cup at Flemington on Tuesday.

Raised 2.5kg for his Caulfield win, Yucatan is expected to be ridden again by James Mcdonald.

Meanwhile, Ryan

Moore and Wayne Lordan will travel from Breeders Cup duty in Kentucky on Saturday to partner Cliffs Of Moher and Rostropovich respectively in the Melbourne showpiece.
