Leaving Cert appeal wait cut by 3wks

THE wait for Leaving Cert appeal results has been slashed by more than three weeks, it was revealed yesterday.

Next year they will be released in the week beginning September 16.

The changes follow the recent High Court judicial review case brought by Rebecca Carter.

The Wexford student almost missed out on a place in veterinary medicine at UCD due to a marking mistake appeal.

Education Minister Joe Mchugh said: “I am confident these changes will significantly improve the position for students who appeal their results from next year onwards.”
