PSV MAKE THEIR PITCH

MARK VAN BOMMEL will not allow his PSV side to use the poor condition of the Wembley pitch as an excuse tonight.

The playing surface was below par when Spurs lost to Manchester City last Monday – 24 hours after an NFL game.

Large sections of the pitch were brown, the surface in the national stadium was uneven and the NFL logos and distance markings were still visible.

But Van Bommel

(right) said: “I saw the pitch on pictures but it doesn’t matter.

“If you are thinking about the pitch then it is not good. You have to prepare and that is it. You cannot complain, you cannot change the situation.

“Every team has some weak spots, but you saw the 2-2 draw in Eindhoven, Spurs were really good all over the pitch.

“It is a must-win for Spurs, but if we want to do something we have to win as well.”
