MAC IS ON COMEBACK TRAIL NOW
IRELAND star James Mccarthy stepped up his recovery from a double leg break injury in his first Everton appearance in ten months last night.
The midfielder came off the bench in a friendly match at Goodison Park and played the guts of 30 minutes for the Toffees – after playing a full 90 minutes for the under-23 side ten days ago.
Interestingly, the side facing Everton was
Kenyan champions Gor Mahia in the Sportpesa Cup final.
The fixture marks the first time an East African club has faced off against a Premier League side on English soil – Gor defeated Simba SC Tanzania in June to qualify for the Merseyside clash.
Everton comfortably triumphed on a scoreline of 4-0.
Mccarthy’s comeback comes just too late to fit into Martin O’neill’s November plans.
He has been out of action since a crunching Solomon Rondon challenge sidelined the Scottish born star in January.
