Trial re­sumes in Re­gency mur­der case

Patrick Hutch THE trial of Patrick Hutch for mur­der will re­sume next month.

The Spe­cial Crim­i­nal Court was yes­ter­day told a re­port into the death of Det Supt Colm Fox, who died from a gun­shot wound at Bal­ly­mun Garda sta­tion, is com­plete.

Hutch, of Cham­pion Av­enue in Dublin, de­nies mur­der­ing David Byrne, 34, dur­ing a box­ing weighin at the city’s Re­gency Ho­tel on Fe­bru­ary 5, 2015.

The 25-year-old also de­nies pos­ses­sion of weapons on the same day.

The trial was ad­journed fol­low­ing the sud­den death of chief in­ves­ti­ga­tor Det Supt Fox.

Three notes writ­ten by the of­fi­cer had been given to the three-judge panel at a pre­vi­ous hear­ing.
