MOR BOTHER FOR RANGERS

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

RANGERS are gearing up for a Friday fight night in their bid to clear under-fire frontman Alfredo Morelos for tomorrow’s Scottish Cup clash with Killie.

The Ibrox club yesterday launched an appeal against the hitman’s red card in Wednesday’s powderkeg Pittodrie win against Aberdeen.

Morelos was sent packing by ref Bobby Madden for kicking out at Scott

Mckenna, which also saw the Dons defender ordered off for his part in the spat. Aberdeen have opted not to contest the decision and the centre back will sit out Sunday’s tie against Queen of the South but Gers are looking to get the Morelos card overturned.

The Colombian will learn his fate at a Hampden hearing scheduled for 6pm tonight and if the Ibrox side are successful the 23-goal striker will get the green light for Rugby Park.

Meanwhile Gers keeper Allan Mcgregor is facing a sweat – along with Celtic’s Jozo Simunovic – as SFA compliance officer Claire Whyte pores over footage from Wednesday’s explosive round of fixtures.

Mcgregor (inset) could be in hot water for going studs in on Aberdeen’s Lewis Ferguson while Simunovic is waiting to discover if he is in bother for flattening Hibs forward Olly Shaw.

The compliance officer has until 3pm this afternoon to raise any retrospective action against the pair.

Hibs winger Darnell Johnston and Dons midfielder Ferguson have also been in the spotlight for challenges midweek but the pair were both given yellow cards at the time and will not be cited.
