TROUBLE & STRIFE GOOD FOR LOSSL

- BY MIKE WHALLEY

JONAS LOSSL is asking anyone he can for advice on how to help drag Huddersfield out of their slump – including his wife.

The Terriers keeper has endured arguably the most turbulent season of his career, and not just because the club are facing the prospect of Premier

League relegation in record time.

Lossl (above) was out of the team at the start of the season as new signing Ben Hamer initially got the nod in goal.

And he was then part of the Denmark squad who went on strike in September – leaving a team of semi-professionals to play a friendly against Slovakia.

Back in Yorkshire, Lossl saw head coach David Wagner (below) leave last month, while the club have also had to cope with chairman Dean Hoyle’s absence during a prolonged illness.

Lossl admits the Terriers’ trials have made him tough to live with – but believes a win over Arsenal could at least spark a strong finish to the campaign.

He said: “I will never judge a season midway.

It can still be the best season and it can still be the worst.

“I hate losing. But

I owe it to myself, first and foremost, but also to the club and the fans to keep fighting. You will have to ask my wife if I am difficult to live with right now.

But I am not happy after the games.

“A lot depends on how we lose, or how the game goes for me personally. Of course, it is difficult. But I do have a general rule where I give myself a day or two to recover.

“That gives me time to speak to the people I need to speak with – be it my goalkeeping coach, my mental coach, my manager, the players, my wife sometimes.

“After that, it is left behind and a time to look forward. It is hard for her. The family feels it. There is pressure on everyone, including the staff at the club.

“I owe it to everyone to not let the pressure come to me.”
