VAR NONSENSE – PART 2

-

ULTIMATELY, I thought Michail Antonio was offside and it was not a massive miscarriage of justice when Tomas Soucek’s opening ‘goal’ for West Ham against Chelsea (left, bottom) was ruled out on Wednesday night.

Other pundits think Chelsea got away with one there – but I’m not so sure.

What I do know, however, is that VAR official Jon Moss took nearly three-and-a-half minutes to reach his decision. Sorry but if it takes three minutes to analyse whether a goal should have stood or not, there can’t have been any “clear and obvious” error to correct.

Offside is offside, whether it’s by a millimetre or a mile. But perhaps we should impose a time limit on VAR officials to reach their decision.
