Amanda and Gavin get special honour on their special day
THE groom’s colleagues from the Defence Forces gave Lt Gavin Looney and his bride Amanda Riordan a guard of honour as they emerged from the church as newlyweds.
Amanda, from Dooks, Glenbeigh, Co Kerry, and Gavin, from Mayfield, Cork, were wed in St James’ Church, Killorglin, Co Kerry, recently by Canon Michael Fleming.
The bride, the daughter of Margaret and Pat Riordan, and groom, the son of Vincent and the late Phil Looney, celebrated with a reception in The Heights Hotel, Killarney.
Amanda’s friend Hannah Hennessy Deane was maid of honour with her pals Siobhán Broxton and Caroline Looney as bridesmaids.
Gavin’s brothers Conor and Ian Looney lent their support as best man and groomsman respectively with a friend, Alan Dunlea, taking on groomsman duties. Gavin’s nephew Billy Looney was pageboy.
Amanda works in Kerr Accountants, Cork, and Gavin is based in Collins Barracks, Cork. He returned a few weeks before the wedding from serving overseas in Mali with the Defence Forces.
The newlyweds were also delighted to welcome the All-Ireland Club Junior Hurling/ Cork County Championship trophies for the day as Gavin plays for Mayfield GAA.
Amanda looked stunning in a Pronovias gown, purchased in Say I Do, Midleton. The newlyweds divided their honeymoon between New York, Washington and Cancun, Mexico.
They first met in September 2011 on a night out in Cork. Gavin popped the question in December 2015 at Charles Fort, Kinsale.
Ian Cronin of IC Photo Studio captured the big day on camera with South West Weddings providing the videography.
The bridal hair was by Seán Taaffe Hair & Beauty with makeup by Maeve Carey of Makeup by Maeve.
The flowers were by Shades of Bloom, Killorglin.
The newlyweds will reside in Cork City.
