‘Alleluia!’ production at North Cathedral
Following a spell-binding inaugural concert in Cork’s Everyman Theatre, the iconic North Cathedral will play host to the sensational production
Alleluia! in the autumn. Scheduled for Friday, October 20, the concert will star Linda Kenny (soprano), Ryan Morgan (tenor), with Cór Geal choir, Whitechurch, along with St Vincent’s National School Choir, the Alleluia musicians, and special guest Fr Ray Kelly.
The musical extravaganza, which gets under way in the cathedral at 8pm, will feature hymns such as ‘Soul Of My Saviour’, ‘Sweet Heart of Jesus’, ‘We Stand for God’, ‘O Mother I Could Weep for Mirth’, and many others.
Tickets for the performance can be had from Pro Musica on (021) 4271659, the cathedral presbytery (Fr O’Donovan) on 021 4304325, or Nolan’s Butchers, 22 Shandon St, at (021) 4304102.
Meanwhile, on another religious note, the 66th Annual Devotions at Lee Road Shrine takes place next Tuesday, August 15.
The organisers are requesting the public assemble near Our Lady’s Hospital gate before 6.30pm and march in procession to the Shrine reciting the 14 Mysteries of the Rosary on the way.
When all have arrived at the Shrine, the 15th Mystery will be recited by the entire congregation. For those unable to walk in procession to the Shrine, there will be accommodation available on the opposite bank of the Lee. The Lee Road will be closed to traffic from Wellington Bridge to the Shrine from 6.30pm.
However, it may be approached by car from the western side up to 7pm. A service of buses will convey people back to the city after the Devotions. Mass will be celebrated at the Shrine at 7.30pm by Bishop of Cork and Ross, Dr John Buckley.
