‘Al­leluia!’ pro­duc­tion at North Cathe­dral

Fol­low­ing a spell-bind­ing in­au­gu­ral con­cert in Cork’s Ev­ery­man The­atre, the iconic North Cathe­dral will play host to the sen­sa­tional pro­duc­tion

Al­leluia! in the au­tumn. Sched­uled for Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 20, the con­cert will star Linda Kenny (so­prano), Ryan Mor­gan (tenor), with Cór Geal choir, Whitechurch, along with St Vin­cent’s Na­tional School Choir, the Al­leluia mu­si­cians, and spe­cial guest Fr Ray Kelly.

The mu­si­cal ex­trav­a­ganza, which gets un­der way in the cathe­dral at 8pm, will fea­ture hymns such as ‘Soul Of My Saviour’, ‘Sweet Heart of Je­sus’, ‘We Stand for God’, ‘O Mother I Could Weep for Mirth’, and many others.

Mean­while, on an­other re­li­gious note, the 66th An­nual Devo­tions at Lee Road Shrine takes place next Tues­day, Au­gust 15.

The or­gan­is­ers are re­quest­ing the pub­lic as­sem­ble near Our Lady’s Hos­pi­tal gate be­fore 6.30pm and march in pro­ces­sion to the Shrine recit­ing the 14 Mys­ter­ies of the Rosary on the way.

When all have ar­rived at the Shrine, the 15th Mys­tery will be re­cited by the en­tire con­gre­ga­tion. For those un­able to walk in pro­ces­sion to the Shrine, there will be ac­com­mo­da­tion avail­able on the op­po­site bank of the Lee. The Lee Road will be closed to traf­fic from Welling­ton Bridge to the Shrine from 6.30pm.

How­ever, it may be ap­proached by car from the western side up to 7pm. A ser­vice of buses will con­vey peo­ple back to the city af­ter the Devo­tions. Mass will be cel­e­brated at the Shrine at 7.30pm by Bishop of Cork and Ross, Dr John Buck­ley.
