Coun­cil seeks grant to put 1601 Bat­tle of Kin­sale in the lime­light

County coun­cil of­fi­cials are seek­ing a grant ap­pli­ca­tion to put the 1601 Bat­tle of Kin­sale in the lime­light. The ex­ec­u­tive hopes a grant ap­pli­ca­tion will be ap­proved un­der the Town & Vil­lage Re­newal Scheme to es­tab­lish an in­ter­ac­tive in­ter­pre­tive cen­tre to de­tail pos­si­bly the most fa­mous bat­tle fought in County Cork.

Of­fi­cials out­lined the pro­posal af­ter Cllr Rachel McCarthy sought a progress re­port on erect­ing in­ter­pre­tive signs around the site of the bat­tle grounds.

Of­fi­cials said there was scope for high­light­ing the bat­tle even more if they se­cured a €50,000 grant which would en­able them cre­ate the in­ter­ac­tive in­ter­pre­tive cen­tre at Kin­sale Mu­seum.
