WATERGRASSHILL UNITED recently held their 12th annual Ross’s Centra summer camp at their Skehanagh Park grounds. The week-long camp was open to boys and girls from aged 5-14 and it was a huge success.

This year 152 kids enjoy a fun-filled camp in fantastic weather which allowed them free ice creams and water balloon fights.

The camp was organised by the club and it’s their biggest fundraiser. The funds will go towards the registration for the Schoolboys League teams for the new season, insurance, and the constant improvement of the Skehanagh Park grounds.

The camp was run by committee members Richard Coleman, David Hogan, and Joe O’Keeffe and supervised by outgoing vice-chairman Robert Knaap.

The camp was a great team effort with help from coaches, Sarah Barry, Ken Beechinor, Gary Prendergast and U15, U16, U17 players Sean O’Driscoll, Lee Flanagan, Dan Dennehy, Christy Graham, Owen Desmond, Stephen O’Toole, Sean Desmond, Andrew Desmond, Ceadan Hogan, David Cummins, Keelan O’Sullivan, Chris O’Mahony, Cormac Linehan, Kieran McCarthy, Conor Gowen, Gearóid White, Hannah Healy, Kay and Maeve Sheehan, Leane Loftus, who all took on coaching roles throughout the week which was great for the kids.

The goal of the camp was to get the U15, U16, and U17 players involved and get them interested in coaching and hopefully sign them up for FAI kickstart courses.

The camp has been supported and sponsored by Ken Ross from the local Ross’s Centra, since 2006.

The camp attracts players from the Watergrasshill, Glenville, Leamlara, Bartlemy, Lisgoold and Rathcormac and provides them with a safe and fun environment for the week.

Cork City Women’s FC and Watergrasshill United are organising another three-day camp from August 14-16 at Skehanagh Park. The cost is €35 for three days for boys and girls aged 8-14.

If you pay for camp before August 11 will receive a complimentary football.
