Dromina put end to Harbour’s title hopes
HARBOUR ROVERS, champions for the past two years, made their exit in Buttevant when they were beaten by Dromina in the Hibernian Hotel JAHC quarter-final replay.
The winners were the better team all through, being well ahead at half-time.
The opening stages saw Rovers start at a blistering pace and, helped by a Shane O’Riordan goal, they moved into a 1-1 to no score lead by the fifth minute.
Dromina quickly improved, with Paddy Burke, David Jones, Kevin Hayes, and the Buckley brothers featuring strongly. They were level 1-2 to 0-5 by the 14th minute.
Michael Naughton and Stephen Condon swapped points and Condon gave his side the lead with a free.
The remainder of the half belonged to Dromina, David Jones scored a great goal.
They piled on the pressure and by the 28th minute, they moved 1-12 to 1-6 clear.
Jones breached the Rovers backline for his second goal and followed up with a point as the winners led 2-13 to 1-6 at the break.
