It’s a g’day as Lynda and Jimmy walk down the aisle
LYNDA O’DONOVAN and Jimmy Lordan planned the perfect big day in Cork all the way from Australia.
Lynda, from Blarney, and Jimmy, from Passage West, have been living in Perth since 2011.
They were wed recently in St Mary’s Waterloo, Blarney, and held their reception in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Little Island, Cork.
Photographer Adrian O’Neill captured the big day on camera including a photo-shoot in Blarney Castle.
The bride’s sisters lent their support with Tara O’Donovan as maid of honour and Grace O’Meara as bridesmaid, as did her school friends Karen McCarthy and Linda Ruby in the role of bridesmaids. Amber Salman, the groom’s niece, was flower girl.
The groom’s friend Neil O’Brien was best man while his brother Stephen Long and cousin Shane Atkinson were groomsmen along with a friend, James Twomey.
The bride’s nephew Michael O’Meara was pageboy. The couple first met through Lynda’s sister Tara who knew Jimmy through voluntary work for a Belarusian orphanage.
They became an item in summer 2006 with their first date in Gloria Jean’s on Patrick’s Street, Cork.
They got engaged in November 2015 in Bells Rapids, Swan Valley, Western Australia. “It was very warm; we were sheltering from Ozzie sun. We began chatting under a tree and then Jimmy produced a ring from his pocket and dropped to one knee. I was ecstatic,” said Lynda.
For their honeymoon the newlyweds travelled back to Perth, taking in Edinburgh, Scotland; Venice, Italy; Prague, Czech Republic; Istanbul, Turkey; and Bali, Indonesia; on their way.
The bride is a high school teacher and Jimmy is a civil engineer.
They reside for now in Perth with their beloved Irish wolfhound ‘Peig’ but Cork will always be home.
