New youth worker for Kinsale café

Irish Examiner - County - - News -

Kinsale Youth Community Café has appointed a youth worker. Jackie O’Halloran’s new role is to create activities and a safe environment where the young people of Kinsale can socialise and enhance their personal development and well-being. Jackie, from Ballygarvan, is a graduate of UCC’s Youth and Community Development Programme. She has more than 10 years’ experience in coordinating youth groups and meeting individual needs.

She will be based in the community-run café for 20 hours a week, so the public is invited to “pop in to say hello” and bring along their teens to hang out. The café, run by a voluntary committee, reopens tomorrow after the summer break. Opening times are Wednesdays, 2pm-8pm, and Fridays, 4pm-8pm, for 1st and 2nd year students, and Saturdays, 2pm-6pm, for 3rd years onwards. Jackie can be contacted directly on 087-7903319, or contact Gearóid on 086-2564069.
