Fairytale ending for costume couple Naomi and Michael

There had to be a happily ever-after ending for Naomi Cullen and Michael Fenton… after all, she was dressed as Snow White when they first met. Naomi, aged 29, from Turners Cross, a staff nurse in the South Infirmary Hospital, recently wed Michael, aged 31, from Caherciveen, a chef in The Bosun Restaurant. The couple live in Passage West.

It was Halloween night and both attended Havana Browns in Cork city with respective friends. They met on the dance floor — Naomi dressed as Snow White and Michael as Superman. They followed up with a first date at the cinema a week later. They moved in together 12 weeks after meeting. “Never a dull day and as loved up as ever!!!” said Naomi.

Michael got down on one knee in May 2015, outside Cork Opera House. They were wed on December 31 at Christ the King Church, Turners Cross. Naomi’s mum, Ruth, gave her away. Joining her on the day were her four older brothers, including Christian, who has a production company, Epic Productions, and helped with the wedding video.

Her mum’s cousin, Fr Michael Healy, travelled from San Francisco to celebrate the mass along with the Parish Priest Fr Kerry Murphy-O Connor. Her dad, Tony, attended, along with her cousins from the UK.

Michael’s parents, Breda and Michael, travelled from Kerry, along with aunts and uncles from all over the country.

Naomi’s maid of honour was her best friend Sarah, her bridesmaids were one of her closest friends Chloe and also Michael’s sister Marian. Michael’s best man was Jonathan and his groomsmen were one of his closest friends Patrick and Naomi’s brother Karl.

Naomi’s nieces Gia and Saidbhe were junior bridesmaids, while nephews Kilian and Lochlass were pageboys and her seven-month-old niece Molly was the flower girl.

Turners Cross Choir provided the music at the church, while decorations were by Sandra from To Have To hold. The bride looked beautiful in her dress from Sharon Gregory in Mallow, with bespoke birdcage veil made by Lucy in Bella Bleu on the South Mall. She made the bride’s brooch bouquet and the bridesmaid’s three bouquets too.

The couple had their reception at the Imperial Hotel — where the wedding co-ordinator and staff blew them away — but not before they had photos taken around the city, including the spot where they first set eyes on each other. It was a day to remember.
