Coun­cil build­ings in the frame for com­pe­ti­tion

The pub­lic is in­vited to sub­mit pho­to­graphic en­tries for a cash prize com­pe­ti­tion to mark the 50th an­niver­sary of County Hall.

Cork County Coun­cil is invit­ing images of other pub­lic build­ings through­out the county, in­clud­ing of­fice build- ings, li­braries, fire sta­tions, swim­ming pools, tourist at­trac­tions, and town halls, among oth­ers.

En­ti­tled “Your Coun­cil Build­ings”, the images sub­mit­ted will form part of a dig­i­tal ex­hi­bi­tion which will tour county li­braries.

The ini­tia­tive car­ries cash prizes to­talling €500 for each of the coun­cil di­vi­sions — North, South and West Cork — with each out­right win­ner re­ceiv­ing €300.

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr De­clan Hur­ley, urged the pub­lic to be cre­ative and think about ar­eas where Cork County Coun­cil and its build­ings play a part in their com­mu­nity.

“The coun­cil pro­vides a broad range of ser­vices across all of our towns and vil­lages. I am ask­ing ev­ery­one to get their cam­eras or phones and take an im­age which re­flects that work,” he added.

The clos­ing date isJune 30 and judg­ing will take place shortly af­ter­wards.

All en­trants will also be in­vited to County Hall for a prize­giv­ing cer­e­mony.
