Social housing funds sought

Irish Examiner - County - - News -

The Government has been requested to fund six new social houses at the Model Village, near Dripsey, following a submission from County Hall.

Officials are anxious to build a two-storey terrace of homes close to O’Mahony Terrace.

Originally the land for the new homes was earmarked for serviced sites, but the council says there is a pressing need for local authority housing.

It plans to build three twobed and three three-bed homes there, which will each have front and back gardens.

They hope to get approval for funding from the Department shortly and commence construction by the yearend or the beginning of 2019.

Cllr Gobnait Moynihan welcomed the project but suggested the two-bed homes should be bungalows.

Officials, however, said the design of the houses would be in keeping with ex ting homes.
