Watch that cat­tle on heavy feed­ing are not get­ting aci­do­sis; look out for loose dungs, cud balls, drool­ing of saliva and lame­ness.

Many young bulls are on ad-lib feed­ing.

It is im­por­tant that they have ac­cess to plenty of wa­ter, and have straw if they want it. In order to keep up per­for­mance, high-en­ergy feeds must be fed to in­ten­sively fin­ished stock.

Make sure, if you are feed­ing high rates of ce­re­als, that they are ru­men friendly and will not cause di­ges­tive up­sets.
