All are wel­come to at­tend the Share Farm­ing Open Day next Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 6, at Gur­teen, Ban­don, Co Cork. The event will get un­der way at 10.30am.

Top­ics cov­ered at the event will in­clude farm owner and share farmer per­spec­tives on share farm­ing; po­si­tion­ing your­self for share farm­ing; t o t a l d e ve l o p m e n t c o s t s for set­ting up a new 100-cow farm; the Gur­teen share farm­ing agree­ment; phys­i­cal and fi­nan­cial per­for­mance to date, in­clud­ing re­turns to both par­ties; and other col­lab­o­ra­tive farm­ing ar­range­ments.

The farm will be sign­posted from all routes into Ban­don. Come along to hear how one of Ireland’s first share farm­ing ar­range­ments is pro­gress­ing.

Dairy­gold Qual­ity Feeds Cork Hol­stein Friesian Club Herds (CHFC) Com­pe­ti­tion awards: Donal Os­borne (Au­tumn 2 cat­e­gory win­ner for best group of hree cows all with more than five lac­ta­tions), with Clive Os­borne, Rachel McCarthy (Dairy­gold Qual­ity Feeds), and Seona Os­borne. Be­low, Sea­mus O’Ma­hony (Dairy­gold Qual­ity Feeds) with Jerry O’Driscoll (best cow fam­ily, Au­tumn 2 cat­e­gory), Brian Hayes and Karen Hayes (best calved heifer, Au­tumn 1 cat­e­gory), De­nis McCarthy (Dairy­gold Qual­ity Feeds), Richard Forde (CHFC Hon Sec­re­tary).
