Irish Examiner - Farming - - MACRA -

The 2017-2018 Macra calendar will get under way this week as the Seandún regional competitions kick off. Tomorrow night, the Seandún bowling final will take place at Leisureplex in Cork City at 9pm.

Competitive teams from the different clubs in the region will consist of three men and three women who will aim to get the highest score for the opportunity to represent Seandún at the national bowling finals next month. However, the night will also serve as a social night where current and prospective Seandún Macra members are invited to part-take in noncompetitive bowling teams. This bowling night at the start of the Macra year is always a great social and sporting occasion and all are welcome to come along. Following on from that, the Seandún final of Question Time will take place on Sunday at The Huntsman, Belgooly with sign-in from 8.20pm to 8.40pm.

The weekend will also see officers from the region travelling to Athlone for officer training which is run by Macra’a national office and which will prepare individuals for their respective officer roles within the region. Following training on the Saturday, there will be a formal banquet where the National Leadership Awards will be presented.

The Leadership Distinction Awards are presented each year to officers who have excelled in their roles in their respective region or county over the previous year. Seandún has five officers in the running and hopes are high that the silverware will return to the region.
