Fianna Fáil Fi­nance spokesman Michael McGrath joined f a r m e r r e p r e s e n t a t i ve s i n ex­press­ing dis­ap­point­ment at the ab­sence of mea­sures in the Bud­get to deal with farm in­come volatil­ity. He asked Min­is­ter Dono­hoe to en­gage with the sec­tor to as­cer­tain if mea­sures can be brought for­ward in the Fi­nance Bill. ICOS and ICMSA both were ex­tremely dis­ap­pointed by the fail­ure of the Depart­ment of Fi­nance to in­clude an in­come sta­bil­i­sa­tion mea­sure or farm m a n a g em e n t d e p o s i t t y pe scheme in the Bud­get. ICMSA’s John Comer said farm­ers are be­wil­dered and sur­prised that Min­is­ter Dono­hoe failed to deal with farm in­come volatil­ity. He said the in­crease in stamp duty to 6% will also hurt farm­ers.
