No income stabilisation or deposit scheme
Fianna Fáil Finance spokesman Michael McGrath joined f a r m e r r e p r e s e n t a t i ve s i n expressing disappointment at the absence of measures in the Budget to deal with farm income volatility. He asked Minister Donohoe to engage with the sector to ascertain if measures can be brought forward in the Finance Bill. ICOS and ICMSA both were extremely disappointed by the failure of the Department of Finance to include an income stabilisation measure or farm m a n a g em e n t d e p o s i t t y pe scheme in the Budget. ICMSA’s John Comer said farmers are bewildered and surprised that Minister Donohoe failed to deal with farm income volatility. He said the increase in stamp duty to 6% will also hurt farmers.
