The Center for Disease Control said last week 55 people in 12 states were infected with campylobacter, and nearly all of them came into contact with puppies from the Petland chain.
The illness causes fever, severe cramping, and other gastrointestinal issues. Petland emphasised the importance of proper hand sanitising when handling pets.
