Tre­ble R crowned quiz cham­pi­ons

Tre­ble R Macra from Dublin are the 2017 Ker­ry­gold Club Ques­tion Time cham­pi­ons. The Dublin team held off Ter­mon­feckin Macra from Louth at the ALSAA Sports Arena in Dublin.

Some 26 Macra clubs from all over the coun­try took part in the fi­nal.

The win­ners win a place on the an­nual Macra na Feirme prizewin­ners’ trip. Speak­ing after­wards, Macra na Feirme na­tional pres­i­dent James Healy said: “Well done to all clubs who took part and con­grat­u­la­tions to Tre­ble R for a great win.

“Quizzes are as pop­u­lar as ever in Ire­land and the huge turnout here tonight is a tes­ta­ment to that.

“I would also like to thank Ker­ry­gold for their con­tin­ued spon­sor­ship of this great event.” Mean­while, Kin­sale Macra hosted a club fundraiser on in the Tri­dent Ho­tel.

It was a blitz of well-known TV game shows in­clud­ing



There was also a few sur­prises thrown in such as hun­gry hip­pos, cha­rades, Pic­tionary, ring toss, and arm wres­tles for mem­bers of the au­di­ence. A round of bingo was played for all teams, as well as the au­di­ence, and a raf­fle was also held.

Re­gional teams Knock­raha, UCC, Glan­mire, Car­ri­ga­line, Se­andún and Kin­sale went head to head tak­ing on all chal­lenges.

It all came down to a tie breaker be­tween Car­ri­ga­line and Se­andún of Pass the Polo mint. Car­ri­ga­line Macra used their quick wit, knowl­edge and speed to emerge vic­to­ri­ous.

With pres­i­dent James Healy at the Macra Quiz were Macra Tre­ble R — Jonathan Davey, Caoimhe O’hO­gar­taigh, Michaela Syn­nott and Caro­line Duri­gan.
