Farm safety code

Every farmer should complete their farm health and safety document carefully and rectify practices, equipment or buildings that are sources of danger. It is a legal requirement to complete and update the Farm Safety Code of Practice or to prepare a safety statement. Despite this being a legal requirement, it is ignored by many farmers, and this is no doubt a contributory factor to farm related death and injury.

Assess grass

Walk the farm carefully and assess grass supply.

Due to good growth and interrupted grazing periods, farm covers are sufficient to allow late autumn grazing if conditions allow. If possible avoid heavy covers that can affect the early spring grass supply.
