Fun run to benefit cancer charity
Bantry Macra’s charity fun run next month will benefit the work of Cork ARC Cancer Support House in Bantry. Starting at the Westlodge Hotel on Sunday, March 11, the race will take walkers and runners on a fun and relaxed 6km route around the environs of the Westlodge and Bantry Bay. Registration takes place at 12.30pm and the race will start at 1pm.
Entry is €10 per person, with free entry for runners under the age of 14.
Funds raised will be donated to Cork ARC Cancer Support House, which is open every Tuesday and Thursday at The Bungalow in Goureebeg, near Bantry Golf Course. There, cancer patients and their families living in the communities of West Cork and South Kerry find a warm can avail of a drop-in and telephone support service, counselling, therapeutic massage, reflexology, and art therapy.
As well as a weekly drop in ‘Hour of Calm’ session every Tuesday morning, Cork ARC also offers group programmes designed to improve health and wellbeing, such as yoga and mindfulness.
There area also information workshops covering areas from bereavement information, diet in cancer, and hormonal therapies.
All the services are free of charge.
