Fun run to ben­e­fit can­cer char­ity

Bantry Macra’s char­ity fun run next month will ben­e­fit the work of Cork ARC Can­cer Sup­port House in Bantry. Start­ing at the West­lodge Ho­tel on Sun­day, March 11, the race will take walk­ers and run­ners on a fun and re­laxed 6km route around the en­vi­rons of the West­lodge and Bantry Bay. Regis­tra­tion takes place at 12.30pm and the race will start at 1pm.

En­try is €10 per per­son, with free en­try for run­ners un­der the age of 14.

Funds raised will be do­nated to Cork ARC Can­cer Sup­port House, which is open ev­ery Tues­day and Thurs­day at The Bun­ga­low in Gouree­beg, near Bantry Golf Course. There, can­cer pa­tients and their fam­i­lies liv­ing in the com­mu­ni­ties of West Cork and South Kerry find a warm can avail of a drop-in and tele­phone sup­port ser­vice, coun­selling, ther­a­peu­tic mas­sage, re­flex­ol­ogy, and art ther­apy.

As well as a weekly drop in ‘Hour of Calm’ ses­sion ev­ery Tues­day morn­ing, Cork ARC also of­fers group pro­grammes de­signed to im­prove health and well­be­ing, such as yoga and mind­ful­ness.

There area also in­for­ma­tion work­shops cov­er­ing ar­eas from be­reave­ment in­for­ma­tion, diet in can­cer, and hor­monal ther­a­pies.
