EU food trade flying
Strong growth in the EU’s agrifood trade over the last year has lifted the bloc’s trade surplus with the rest of the world to a record level of €21bn, due to exports outperforming imports. Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan was recently congratulated for “going the extra mile” to boost European agri-food exports, including travelling 55,000 miles in trade missions over two years, by a broad coalition of 10 Brussels-based agrifood and feed associations.
