She will be 50 in December and there is no stopping former model and Italian-French singer-songwriter, Carla Bruni, from continuing her creative journey. Bruni was very much in the spotlight after she married former French president, Nicolas Sarkozy and gave birth to their child, daughter Giulia, at the age of 43, before he lost his bid for a second term in 2012. Now her singing career is back in focus with the announcement of the release of her fifth studio album, French Touch, an English-language collection of covers, on October 6, via Decca Records. The album includes a trove of her all-time sentimental favourites — pop songs forever associated with a person or place or moment in time, the sort of records that she says, borrowing the French term for love at first sight, “have been a coup de foudre”. Hence the album’s name, French Touch.
