She will be 50 in De­cem­ber and there is no stop­ping for­mer model and Ital­ian-French singer-song­writer, Carla Bruni, from con­tin­u­ing her cre­ative jour­ney. Bruni was very much in the spot­light af­ter she mar­ried for­mer French pres­i­dent, Ni­co­las Sarkozy and gave birth to their child, daugh­ter Gi­u­lia, at the age of 43, be­fore he lost his bid for a sec­ond term in 2012. Now her singing ca­reer is back in fo­cus with the an­nounce­ment of the re­lease of her fifth stu­dio al­bum, French Touch, an English-language col­lec­tion of cov­ers, on Oc­to­ber 6, via Decca Records. The al­bum in­cludes a trove of her all-time sen­ti­men­tal favourites — pop songs for­ever as­so­ci­ated with a per­son or place or mo­ment in time, the sort of records that she says, bor­row­ing the French term for love at first sight, “have been a coup de foudre”. Hence the al­bum’s name, French Touch.
