A pre­oc­cu­pa­tion with the ad­dic­tive be­hav­iour, for ex­am­ple, al­ways need­ing to have some pre­scrip­tion drugs to hand

Be­gin­ning to feel shame and guilt re­lated to the ac­tiv­ity but do­ing it any­way

With­draw­ing from re­la­tion­ships with fam­ily and friends to en­gage in the ac­tiv­ity

Hid­ing the drug-tak­ing from fam­ily and friends

Blank­ness or numb­ness, not exhibiting feel­ings, or the op­po­site — in­creased ag­i­ta­tion and/or ag­gres­sion

Mood swings, ten­sion, un­hap­pi­ness, or de­pres­sion

Be­ing un­able to stop de­spite your best ef­forts
