Cope with COPD
Chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), better known as bronchitis or emphysema, is the fourth most common cause of death in Ireland after lung cancer, heart and stroke. And the risk of getting it increases with age; it affects one in 10 adults aged over 40 years. More than 380,000 people living in Ireland have COPD, but more than 170,000 people don’t know that they have it. World COPD Day, a global campaign to raise awareness of the condition, takes place on November 15. COPD Support Ireland are organising a week of events to help highlight the disease and its symptoms. There will be organised walks, a #letstakecopd social media campaign and much more. Contact ww.copd.ie to find out what’s on in your area and help raise awareness.
