Na­tional Trea­sures, RTE One, Sun­day, April 8, 6.30pm Na­tional Trea­sures is a new se­ries that aims to tell the story of Ire­land over the past 100 years through the or­di­nary ob­jects that are trea­sured in fam­ily homes across the coun­try. In this first episode, John Cree­don be­gins in Cork, where peo­ple from all over Mun­ster have trav­elled to a spe­cial road­show. From So­nia O’Sul­li­van’s run­ning shoes to a plec­trum from Rory Gal­lagher’s last Ir­ish gig, who knows what weird and won­der­ful items will be un­cov­ered? At Your Ser­vice, RTE One, Sun­day, April 8, 8.30pm This new se­ries opens with the fa­mil­iar tale of a fam­ily of artists and his­to­ri­ans who bought a coun­try house but are now strug­gling to make ends meet. They hit upon the plan of cre­at­ing a tea-room in a court­yard sta­ble — but do they have what it takes to make it a com­mer­cial suc­cess? Fran­cis Bren­nan aims to make sure they do. Big Week on the Farm, RTE One, Mon­day, April 7, to Fri­day, April 13, 7pm Early April is one of the big­gest weeks of the year for farm­ers, and view­ers will get an in­sight into just how busy that can be. Ev­ery evening at 7pm, Ella McSweeney, Áine Lawlor (pic­tured left), and celebrity guest pre­sen­ters will de­scend on the O’Sul­li­van fam­ily’s dairy farm in Water­ford to wit­ness the chaos of spring calv­ing and milk­ing. The first episode will also take a look in­side the secret world of crows, give an in­sight into the va­ri­ety of wildlife to be found on the beach near the farm, and will show how the farm of the fu­ture may in­volve ro­bots and ar­ti­fi­cial in­tel­li­gence.
