Governor race
SHE was 52 last week but actress Cynthia Nixon — better known for her portrayal of Miranda Hobbes in the HBO series Sex And The City — has obviously opted to take to the political rather than the acting stage, as she matures in years. Nixon — no relative of the late 37th US President Richard Nixon — has announced she will be running for New York governor. And already her SATC castmates, Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall have tweeted their enthusiastic support. A breast cancer campaign activist since she battled the disease 10 years ago, Nixon has also identified herself as bi-sexual and took a public stand supporting the legalisation of samesex marriage in Washington state, the home state of her wife, Christine Marinoni, with whom she has had a third child, following her divorce.
