The Amer­i­can re­al­ity show gets an Ir­ish ver­sion, and they’re al­ready off to a fly­ing start by se­lect­ing the per­fect pre­sen­ter. Franc, aka Peter Kelly from Fer­moy, will front the 10-part se­ries which fol­lows brides-to-be as they try to se­lect the per­fect wed­dding dress.

The first se­ries of this show cre­ated the big­gest word-of­mouth buzz since Mak­ing A Mur­derer. You dared not ap­proach the wa­ter cooler un­less you were car­ry­ing an opin­ion. Whether the homage to the ‘80s will work as well sec­ond time around re­mains to be seen, but we do know the ac­tion has moved on a year, and there’s a new evil force threat­en­ing the cit­i­zens of Hawkins, In­di­ana.

THE CROWN Net­flix, De­cem­ber 8

The first sea­son of this show made for such easy view­ing that it made one put aside some of one’s mis­giv­ings about the Bri­tish royal fam­ily. ‘Ah look, they’re al­most like peo­ple.’ This time around, we’re up to the early 1960s as the winds of change be­gin to blow through so­ci­ety. Claire Foy is back in the lead role, while an in­ter­est­ing guest star is the ex­cel­lent Michael C Hall (Six Feet Un­der, Dex­ter) as John F Kennedy.
