■ On Satur­day and Sun­day, July 2 and 3, from 11am to 5pm, nine gar­dens and six art gal­leries will be open to the pub­lic in In­nis­han­non, Co Cork. For a great day out, why not visit a cot­tage gar­den, vil­lage gar­den, cas­tle gar­den, farm gar­den, hous­ing es­tate gar­den, riverside gar­den, wood­land gar­den, and more. A €10 euro ticket gives ac­cess to all venues and will be avail­able to buy at In­nis­han­non Par­ish Hall. Pro­ceeds to the restora­tion of Old St Mary’s and seat­ing in nearby Drom­keen Wood.

■ As seen in Peter Dow­dall’s column this week, the award­win­ning gar­dens of Ger­tie and Mau­rice O’donoghue at Drom­boy, Car­rig­navar, will open to­day and to­mor­row from 2-6pm in aid of Mary­mount Hospice. The event in­cludes a sculp­ture trail and plant sale. Sign­posted from Cork-mal­low Road (N20) at Rath­duff and from Car­rig­navar vil­lage.

■ Next weekend, an­other Open Gar­dens in aid of Mary­mount Hospice will be held at the homes of Noel O’ke­effe and An­thony Barry of The Rock, Car­rigt­wohill, Cork on Satur­day, July 1 from 11am to 6pm. Ad­mis­sion is by do­na­tion.

■ The Lough Flower and Gar­den Club’s an­nual gar­den visit will take place on Tues­day, June 27 June. Mem­bers are re­quested to meet at the Wil­ton Shop­ping Cen­tre Car Park, (li­brary end) at 6.15pm.

■ Kan­turk Flower and Gar­den Club will host its an­nual out­ing on Sun­day, June 25 visit­ing Gar­dens in The Bur­ren, start­ing with the Tea and Gar­den Rooms in Bal­ly­vaughan, fol­lowed by gar­den vis­its in Fanore and Lis­doon­va­rna and fin­ish­ing the day with a four-course din­ner in the Fall Hotel En­nisty­mon. ■ An Open Day wil be held at the home of Frank and Kitty Tan­ner Ra­heen, Newces­town Co Cork (near Michael Collins mon­u­ment at Béal na Bláth) on Sun­day July 2 from noon to 6pm in aid of the Ir­ish Com­mu­nity Air Am­bu­lance. Re­fresh­ments served. Call 086-8305704 for direc­tions.

■ Just Eat Street — the in­ter­na­tional street food vil­lage within Laya Health­care’s City Spec­tac­u­lar — is a feast of food, fun and en­ter­tain­ment run­ning at the Rose Gar­den in Cork’s Fitzger­ald Park on the weekend of July 15-17. For the full pro­gramme check out cityspec­tac­u­lar.com.

■ Gar­dener’s World pre­sen­ter, Monty Don is set to head­line the Car­low Gar­den Fes­ti­val from July 21-30, this year. The fes­ti­val could prove to be one of the high­lights of the sea­son for those who like to talk and lis­ten, as well as work on gar­dens. Run­ning over 10 days, it has a star-stud­ded line-up of top-grade gar­den­ers and a great list of events — but be warned, it ain’t cheap, if you want to catch more that one or two speak­ers. How­ever, The 2017 pro­gramme fea­tures a great list of all the big name UK gar­den­ers com­bined with the best of Ir­ish gar­den broad­cast­ers, writ­ers and Chelsea medal trail­blaz­ers. High­lights in­clude a mas­ter class with Roy Lan­caster, Paul Smyth and Joe Swift at €35 at Al­ta­mont Plant Sale on July 28.
