Fine furniture among many lots at Hegarty’s latest auction Des O’sullivan
Antique pieces include rare marble console table along with jewellery and art, writes
A19th-century mahogany console table and a maple and satinwood inlaid fold-over card table are among the highlights at Hegarty’s sale in Bandon tomorrow.
The console table, complete with green marble top and “S” scrolled leg supports, is estimated at €3,000- 5,000. The card table comes with a shaped top and is stamped JW Slowdown and Sons, London. It has an estimate of €2,000-4,000.
Along with antique furniture, the sale offers a selection of silver, jewellery and Irish art among a total of 350 lots.
Antique furniture lots of note include a rosewood basket base card table (€1,600-1,800) and a rosewood campaign secretaire chest with narrow pull out maps drawer over a drop down secretaire shelf (€1,600-1,800).
Among the silver is a cased French Art Nouveau desk set. It comprises a seal, letter opener, book marker, pencil and ink pen and has an estimate of €300-400.
Jewellery pieces include an 18-carat gold ring and a vintage Dior necklace and there is art by Markey Robinson, Pauline Bewick, Gerard Dillon Marie Carroll and John Henry Campbell.
The sale is on view from noon to 5pm today and from noon to the start of the auction at 4pm tomorrow. The catalogue is online.
