FUR­NI­TURE AND COLLECTIBLES

An­tique fur­ni­ture and collectibles will come un­der the ham­mer at Lynes and Lynes in Car­rigt­wohill at 11am to­day. There is some Cork fur­ni­ture, a Chi­nese lac­quered cabinet and art, in­clud­ing a seascape by Ed­win Hayes.

KEY ARTISTS

The Yeats and Henry sum­mer ex­hi­bi­tion at the Hunt Mu­seum in Lim­er­ick brings to­gether 51 works by two of Ire­land’s most im­por­tant early 20th cen­tury artists. It is drawn from pub­lic and pri­vate col­lec­tions, in­clud­ing the Euro­pean In­vest­ment Bank in Lux­em­bourg. “Jack B Yeats and Paul Henry; Con­trast­ing Vi­sions of Ire­land” runs un­til Septem­ber 30.

LIFETIME LI­BRARY

A lifetime col­lec­tion of more than 25,000 books goes un­der the ham­mer at Mat- thew’s in Kells, Co Meath to­day and to­mor­row. On of­fer is the pri­vate li­brary of the late Mary Co­lette Mcal­is­ter which is to be sold with­out re­serve. The sale in­cludes signed works by Count­ess Markievicz and Sea­mus Heaney.

JEW­ELLERY AND SIL­VER

There will be a jew­ellery and sil­ver auc­tion at John Wel­don, Cow’s Lane, Tem­ple Bar, Dublin at 2pm next Tues­day. View­ing is from noon to 5pm to­day and to­mor­row.

MOD­ERN ART

The four artists whose work has been selected for pur­chase by the Ir­ish Mu­seum of Mod­ern Art through the Hen­nessy art fund this year are: Ciaran Mur­phy; Mairead Mc­clean; Mark Garry and Yuri Pat­ter­son. Their work will be added to the na­tional col­lec­tion of con­tem­po­rary and mod­ern art and will be re­vealed to the pub­lic on July 13. Works made in the past five years that show ex­cel­lence and innovation within con­tem­po­rary art de­vel­op­ments, are sought.
