FURNITURE AND COLLECTIBLES
Antique furniture and collectibles will come under the hammer at Lynes and Lynes in Carrigtwohill at 11am today. There is some Cork furniture, a Chinese lacquered cabinet and art, including a seascape by Edwin Hayes.
The Yeats and Henry summer exhibition at the Hunt Museum in Limerick brings together 51 works by two of Ireland’s most important early 20th century artists. It is drawn from public and private collections, including the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg. “Jack B Yeats and Paul Henry; Contrasting Visions of Ireland” runs until September 30.
A lifetime collection of more than 25,000 books goes under the hammer at Mat- thew’s in Kells, Co Meath today and tomorrow. On offer is the private library of the late Mary Colette Mcalister which is to be sold without reserve. The sale includes signed works by Countess Markievicz and Seamus Heaney.
JEWELLERY AND SILVER
There will be a jewellery and silver auction at John Weldon, Cow’s Lane, Temple Bar, Dublin at 2pm next Tuesday. Viewing is from noon to 5pm today and tomorrow.
The four artists whose work has been selected for purchase by the Irish Museum of Modern Art through the Hennessy art fund this year are: Ciaran Murphy; Mairead Mcclean; Mark Garry and Yuri Patterson. Their work will be added to the national collection of contemporary and modern art and will be revealed to the public on July 13. Works made in the past five years that show excellence and innovation within contemporary art developments, are sought.
