Tucked away in Fethard-on-sea, Co Wex­ford is the work­shop of fur­ni­ture de­signer and maker Shane Tubrid.

A grad­u­ate of the Na­tional Cen­tre for Ex­cel­lence in Fur­ni­ture De­sign and Tech­nol­ogy at Let­ter­frack, Co Gal­way, most of his work is be­spoke, from side­boards and con­soles, to cof­fee and din­ing ta­bles. One par­tic­u­lar piece, no­table for its de­sign in­ge­nu­ity, is the red oak cir­cu­lar din­ing ta­ble which ex­tends from a six-seater to 12-seater, not, how­ever, with the typ­i­cal in­sert but by the ad­di­tion of a rim com­pris­ing eight sep­a­rate com­po­nents which can be stored away in a match­ing side­board when not in use.
