Powerhouse Fellaini proving his Old Trafford doubters wrong

The transformation in Marouane Fellaini’s Old Trafford fortunes has been little short of remarkable. Once seen as a joke figure by the fans at Old Trafford, the midfielder has become a key part of a side who are once again beginning to look like Premier League title contenders. Not only is he providing a solid physical presence in midfield, he is scoring goals too; his two against Crystal Palace on Saturday took his United total for the campaign to four, as many as he scored during the whole of last season. Jose Mourinho said last month that his team was “weaker” without Fellaini in it; the manager feels that the player’s strength of character has been crucial to winning over United fans.

“He is a fighter, a guy with lots of pride,” Mourinho said. “I am really pleased I helped him reach this level and change the perception the fans have now.”
