Keegan set for Cork return in 2018

Irish Examiner - Sport - - GAA/WORLD OF SPORT -

New Cork hurling coach John Meyler indicated yesterday that high-performance expert Gary Keegan is likely to be part of the Rebels’ backroom team next year. Keegan, who also worked with the All-ireland-winning Dublin footballers this year, is a former director of the Irish Institute of Sport and high-performance director with the Irish Amateur Boxing Association.

“Getting the support team in place is critical,” said Meyler yesterday. “It’s not about an individual, but the team. That’s not just selectors, but the likes of Pat Keane [logistics], Mark [O’donnell, masseur] and Richie [Mooney, masseur], Deccie [O’sullivan, physio and strength-and-conditioning coach], Dr Con [Murphy], Dr Colm [Murphy]; the medical team is critical to the overall picture. Gary [Keegan] is in America at the moment. He was very important last year in terms of the message and the process, so he’ll be important next year.”
