Mo magic can’t paper over Reds’ defensive woes
It is hard to believe questions were asked when Jurgen Klopp paid Roma £34m last summer for Mohamed Salah, a player best remembered in England for a short, unproductive spell with Chelsea. Twenty-one Premier League goals later and that business looks a bargain. Salah has reached his 21 goals in just 25 games, the fastest Liverpool player to hit the 20 mark in a Premier League season. A World Cup beckons with Egypt this summer and Liverpool are still alive and kicking in the Champions League which suggests that, by the start of next season, Salah could be a bona fide world star of the Philippe Coutinho variety. Of course, as Liverpool know, that can open up other complications but, for now, Liverpool supporters and Klopp can simply enjoy his prodigious goalscoring talent.
