Fitzgib­bon Cup quar­ter-fi­nals. Uni­ver­sity of Lim­er­ick v Uni­ver­sity Col­lege Cork, UL (A Kelly, Gal­way), 2.30pm UCC were miss­ing Cork pair Mark Cole­man and Shane Kingston, as well as Water­ford’s Tom Devine, for their last group game. Kingston will fea­ture here, but there are ques­tion-marks over the other two given nei­ther fea­tured for their county dur­ing the open­ing two rounds of the league. UL fell at this very hur­dle last year, de­spite hav­ing home ad­van­tage on that oc­ca­sion against IT Car­low. Gary Kirby’s stu­dents will be de­ter­mined to avoid a re­peat.

DJ Fo­ran has been in supreme form for UCD, tal­ly­ing 1-20 across their two group games. James Ma­her and Dar­ren Codd have been oth­ers to im­press for JJ Doyle’s side. DIT did well to over­come WIT on their home patch but this evening’s op­po­si­tion rep­re­sents a step up again. They con­ceded 4-48 in their two group games and will need to con­sid­er­ably tighten up at back here.
