Ru­mours the EU was con­sid­er­ing new reg­u­la­tions for re­align­ing the siz­ing of con­doms, lead­ing to a one­size-fits-all “euro con­dom” caused even the most docile mem­bers of the Fourth Es­tate into a pos­ture of erect out­rage at the prospect.

Plans to man­date for smaller con­dom sizes, and re­fus­ing to ac­com­mo­date for what they be­lieved were “larger Bri­tish as­sets” was

termed a “Brus­sels’ in­ter­ven­tion too far into our sex lives” by the UK me­dia. Of course, tem­pers even­tu­ally sub­sided when it was later found to be a flac­cid di­rec­tive with no sub­stance.
