Duboeuf Beaujolais Villages, France — €11

This very drinkable Beaujolais Villages is at this very decent price until September 6 with the Duboeuf’s Fleurie selling at €16. Lots of bright cherry and red fruits with a pleasing strawberry kick on the finish. For best results serve this a little cool — perhaps 10C and try with a mid-week curry.

Duboeuf Macon Lugny, Burgundy, France — €13

The Macon region is the most southerly part of Burgundy and borders on Beaujolais. Lugny is the most famous of the different Mâcon Villages and this has typical light floral and honeyed aromas mixed with melon and pear flavours.

Suitable for a big bowl of mussels perhaps.

Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc, Western Cape, South Africa — €9.99-€10.99

I probably don’t mention enough sauvignon blanc given how popular the grape is. South African sauvignon always has a nettle and gooseberry backdrop that I like and this has bonus passionfruit and ripe melon aromas and lots of green apple acidity. Try with some fish and chips.
